Susan Detwiler

Susan Detwiler began her career in the for-profit medical device industry, culminating in 18 years at the head of her own marketing consulting firm serving clients ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. Deciding on a complete 180o turn in 2002, Susan became Executive Director of a non-profit agency in Delaware. However, she missed consulting, and after five years in that position she returned to consulting, only this time to non-profit organizations.

Now an independent consultant, Susan marries her experiences in the for-profit world with her experience in the non-profit world, as both executive staff and board member. She provides fundraising, governance, strategic planning and mentoring services to a number of different organizations, and relishes the fact that she can serve so many different kinds of clients who each do good for the world.

Since returning to consulting, Susan has served as interim executive director for a private school and a bird rescue & rehabilitation agency; provided fundraising counsel for organizations from A to Z – Assisted Living to Zoos; and regularly conducts board retreats for organizations such as the Delaware Governor’s Advisory Council on Hispanic Affairs. She primarily works through Bloom Metz Consulting, in Wilmington, DE.
